Haoyu Wang earned his bachelor's degree from the Chu Kochen Honors College at Zhejiang University in 2009, graduating as a Chu Kochen Distinguished Graduate. In 2014, he completed his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering at the University of Maryland, receiving the Distinguished Dissertation Award. In 2023, he served as a visiting academic fellow in the Department of Engineering at the University of Cambridge. Currently, he is a tenured full professor at the School of Information Science and Technology, ShanghaiTech University.
Dr. Wang's research interests encompass power electronics, electric vehicles, photovoltaic energy storage systems, data center power supplies, pulsed power supplies, and power management ICs, among others. He has led over ten research projects and corporate R&D initiatives supported by organizations such as the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and the Shanghai municipal government, with a total research and educational funding exceeding 14 million yuan. He has published more than 150 papers, including 46 CAS division 1 journals, and has been cited over 3,500 times. Additionally, he has applied for over 20 invention patents. Several of his research outcomes have been successfully commercialized. Notably, he proposed the optimal efficiency point tracking technology for electric vehicle chargers, which has been adopted by Texas Instruments, ON Semiconductor, Wolfspeed, and etc.
Dr. Wang has received over ten awards for teaching and scientific research. He has been elected as an IET Fellow, and entrolled in Shanghai Rising-Star Program, the Sailing Program, and the Pearl Plan. He currently serves as an Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, IEEE Transactions on Transportation Electrification, and CPSS Transactions on Power Electronics, and as a Guest Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics. Previously, he was a Guest Editor-in-Chief for IEEE Journal of Emerging and Selected Topics in Power Electronics and a Guest Associate Editor for IEEE Open Journal of Power Electronics. He has also held the position of Track Chair for IEEE APEC and has served on the organizing committees of over 30 domestic and international conferences, including APEC and ECCE. Furthermore, he has been invited to give more than 40 talks.
